What you see with the off camera lighting, is a natural image with depth. The other image looks flat and dark, like something an amateur shot with a point-and-shoot camera. Having a flash on-camera is detrimental to the work, but used by 99% of event photographers in the field. Post Production - What you should be receiving in all photography

 

All photography services, whether film or digital have two components - onsite production and afterwards, the post-production. When the event is over, the job is literally half done. Be wary of the photographer that flips images at the end of the event! This is the second greatest Sin perpetrated by mediocre photographers (The first greatest Sin is using a flash on top of the camera!).
